Weapons Qual.

Yesterday we started weapons qualification. We woke up at 4am I had to qualify on the m16 I needed to hit 26 out of 40 on the popup range with targets from 50 to 300 meters. I also needed to qualify wearing my protective mask by hitting 11 out of 20 targets at 50 meters. Lastly I had to qualify at night hitting at least 7 out of 30 targets. On the normal popup range I hit 30 out of 40 on the NBC range I hit 20 of 20 and on the night fire range I only hit the minimum 7 out of 30. We didn't get back to the barracks till 9pm, it was a long cold day. I didn't do as good as I thought out there but I did good enough. It was the first time I didn't shoot expert since I joined the guard. I was having trouble with my kevalar falling down in front of my eyes. I was supposed to qualify on the 203 (grenade launcher) yesterday also but they didn't have enough ammo for us so that is going to be rescheduled. Today was a slow day though because anyone that qualified on everything yesterday didn't have to go back out today. After being out running around all day yesterday it was nice to get a little recovery time.

Today I had some PMI training it was pretty good training. PMI stands for Primary Marksmenship Instruction. This is a photo of me in my new body armor after our training got over today. I can tell right now that it is going to be hot in the desert because I was sweating with it on today. I am going to get to qualify with the M16 and the 203 (the 203 is a grenade launcher). Anyways I said I was going to bed a bit ago and didn't so I guess I will be on a while. Hope you like the picture. Feel free to comment on my posts it will let me know people are reading this thing :)

I am not sure what to write

I got to see mom, dad, and Clay today on webcam! That was pretty cool. It's too bad I could not see everyone else. I finally figured out what was wrong with my webcam... it apparently shuts off if I shut my wireless card off. Thats kinda wierd but at least I figured it out. Even if it was on accident :). FYI every once in a while I will put a link in the title that will have some new pictures. If you get an account you can order pictures and stuff I guess... Let me know if any of you do that because I would like to know how it works out. Anyways I am going to head to bed I think. I may be back on here later if I cant sleep so.... ttyl

Me the week I shipped out

The Pass is almost over...

Today I slept till 11:30 and it was sooo nice.... Pretty soon we will be back to business. At 1800 I have CQ till 2200. Today I bought a nice insulated flanel shirt at the PX because it is starting to get pretty cold and they wont let you mix your uniform with your civilian clothes. I also got a new video game for my computer (Halflife 2). I probably wont be playing it for a while but I wanted it and didn't know when the next chance would be to buy it. I started playing Doom3 and its pretty cool and unlike some people who cheat, I wont name any names but it starts with Bran and ends with ooper, I am going to try to go through it with out codes :). I just found a DVD of Frosty the Snow man... Crap it's only Frosty Returns... The Pizza place brings free DVD's when you order so these things are everywhere. Well since no one is online except Suzy and she is not talking to me I guess I will sign off now.

Turkey Day

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! and for those of you that watch www.homestarrunner.com Horpy Torp! Last night I had a whole 2 beers woo hoo! I think those could possibly be that last two that I drink till 2006. Just kidding... I hope not anyway. Today I ate lunch with the Army Joint Chief of Staff General Meyers or whatever his name is... That was kinda cool. I had never met a 4 star general before. It kinda sucks not being home for Thanksgiving but since everyone else isn't going home it kinda just seems like the normal thing to do. I can tell it is a holiday though because there is no one on my aim list right now. I am trying to figure out a good place to upload my pictures that I have been taking... I am probably going to try the ofoto site Heath is using or maybe yahoo. Also for those of you that may have wanted to comment on my blog you can comment now I had the settings wrong. Thanks to everyone that went out of thier way to wish me a happy thanksgiving. Talk at you later...

Totally got some new stuff today!

You would think I was going to Alaska with all the stuff that they are giving us. Today got cold weather boots, 3 sets of cold weather underwear stuff, new gortex, and wet weather gear. I guess they are getting us ready for a cold NJ winter. I don't know about you but this sounds like a weird way to get climatized to the desert. Tomorrow and Wednesday I have some briefings to go to that I probably cant talk about and then I have a 2 day on post pass!!! Looking forward to a few beers at Club Dix (yeah I know that sounds like a gay bar but its not!!!) Anyways I think I am going to go watch some SG-1 season 1 that I downloaded. Peace outside...

just wanted to say a few words

I feel sick again :( hope I am better in the AM. I heard it is going to snow back home so you better all drive safe. I will talk again soon when I feel better. Untill then....

I think we are better than everyone else...

So I have come to the conclusion that my company is very high speed. We are the only ones that set the standards around here. Here are a few examples:
  1. Today we were scheduled to do CTT certification (common tasks training) and we were scheduled to go back tomorrow to finish up on the people that did not finish. They told us that there was no way we would get done today becuase their record was 173 soldiers in one day and we had more than that becuase there were some other soldiers there from another group that had not previously finished the stations. Well lets just say that tomorrow we don't have to go back because we all got certified today.
  2. The other day when we were to get certified on NBC we not only finished in one day... the instructor said that we were the first company to ever show up on time. Also he said that the other companies would say they were going to bring 130 soldiers and only bring 100 (we brought all 152 and had soldiers from other companies join us) He also said we were the best group they had for many other reasons also (like how we interacted with the instruction in the class)
  3. We finished in-processing in one day also and that was supposed to take a 2 or 3 days.

I hate to brag... okay maybe I don't :) but we are squared away high speed soldiers and I don't care what anyone else says.

okay thats all I have to say now besides that I am starting to feel better.

Sleeping on the job

Today we had first aid training... I don't know if there was Carbon Monoxide in the room or what but we all kept falling asleep. It was a rough day for how easy it was. I have been fixing people's computers most of the day and now I am finally getting some free time. oops... Spoke to soon... I have to go install Office on someones computer now. Untill next post ttyl

I think I have TB

Well, I probably don't have TB but I am feeling a cold coming on. Hope its nothing serious with all these shots they have been giving us. I think I am getting over my shot phobia. Tomorrow we have first aid training its more of a refresher course than anything else. well I think that is all I am going to write for now I have to get up at 4:30 and that is going to be rough the way I feel. Untill next time....
